New Tricks

Art doesn't just happen by accident. It is about pulling out new tricks and trying new things.

This reminds me of my journey in photography as a hobbyist. I realize that I still have much more to learn about this art.

I know I can't just study photography. It has to be my passion that should come from the heart.

My images are not only about the capture. It's also about the post production. It's the combination of the two that makes a great image which I believe is very important.

Together as One

"A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality."

Wawa, Mau and baby Wamwam

I felt blessed to get a chance to take their family photo. People who are close to my heart.

Maureen and I are kindred spirits when it comes to shopping --we're both impulse buyers. We both landed our first job in Bangkok on the same school and shared a single flat. That's where I get to know her better, as well as her fiancee then Wawa. A very generous, easy to please and down-to-earth people.

I've witnessed how they grow in love. Soon their bond will be complete as they receive the spiritual blessings they hoped for. Best wishes dear friends!

Dreaming of Spring

Blessed to have cool summer nights lately (^_^). I've heard it drizzled in Bangkok yesterday too.

I chatted with SIL Dy last night with a brief interlude about traveling. I expect it to be the best time of the year or should I say it's a must to visit picturesque Prague on spring time. And so again I get excited with the thought of it but at the back of my mind this is not as simple as getting a round trip ticket and go. There are several things to consider like visas, availability of flights and other stuffs.

When the right time comes for me to see the wild berries in Praha, I know everything will just fall into places. So now let me just enjoy my light dinner of strawberry and vanilla yogurt. I never thought I could find affordable strawbs during summer. It's a miracle! Oh, don't worry, I had my fill of bacon sandwich prior to this.

Aliw's Life Begins at...

10, 20, 30, 40? It's up for you to know and for me to find out.

Have you ever wondered about the meaning of your name? Or have you ever asked your parents why they picked that name for you when you were born? If not, then it's time to inquire or ask uncle Google about it.

As a child I was so curious with my name and my parents gladly explained that they took it from the Christian dictionary that we have at home. So I scrambled to find that dictionary and was happy to see the result of my quest. It says, Aileen is from an Irish origin and a term for Helen which means 'Light'.

Few weeks ago, a good friend of mine celebrated her natal day in the presence of several wellwishers. Fortunately, she's one of those persons I have known with a lovely name. (Just don't mind the Visayan equivalent of some words below.)

Aliw al´iw n. consolation, comfort v. to console, to comfort.
n. entertain v. 1 to interest, to please, to make fun for: maglibang, lumibang, makalibang, libangin, mag-aliw, umaliw, makaaliw, aliwin; 2 to provide entertainment for guests: umistima, istimahin.

Aside from being the best in all these aspects, she continues to inspire others with her simple ways. Praying for a more grace-filled years ahead of you sister.

I really thought that my quest would end that day. Yet it hasn't.

Let this be my aim each miraculous day among all others. "To live with abundance and joy as I connect with the light and create powerful intentions."

Beat the Summer Heat

As I slowly feel the pricks from the heat of the sun each time I run from one place to another, at the end of the day my body becomes so exhausted that I would always wish to cool down in my room. However, I live on a desert thus relaxing isn't that pleasant at all. What I mean with that, is that our unit is directly exposed to sun's extreme temperature so it takes dusk until the heat evaporates.

I've been lusting over guacamole dips lately as I see it often with pastas, pitas and Doritos. Luckily I've never been tempted to buy one just for an occasional pre-made snack. Perhaps there's a reason why I didn't give in. They said, good things come to those who wait! Indeed better than avocado guacamole, yesterday Tony brought me an avocado with collagen icecream!! (^_^)

The product name adage 'collagen' sounds weird at first as I'm not too familiar with the nature of beauty products, yet I settled with the thought that it has my favorite fruit on it. Now I discovered that Collagen is a type of protein. Fibrous in nature that connects and supports other bodily tissues, such as skin, bone, tendons, muscles, cartilage and the internal organs. Perfect choice huh! By the way, the taste is comparably similar to that of Italian gelato but still this one really stands out.

***
Avocado with Collagen Icecream can be bought in Sathorn Thani Tower 1 beside Chong Nonsi Station. It is distributed by Uni-Colloid Thailand Company, Ltd. One gallon costs 500 Baht which is all worth it in every scoop you savor. So far, this is one of the best local icecreams I have ever tasted compared to the Magnolia products in the Philippines.
